EPL: Bruno Fernandes matches Cristiano Ronaldo’s achievement at Man United
Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes, has gone past Cristiano Ronaldo and become the second player in the club’s history to reach 200 goal contributions. He achieved the feat faster than the 41-year-old.
In the game against Tottenham, Fernandes scored his 104th goal for the Red Devils in just 314 matches.
The midfielder came from Sporting CP in 2020 and has been an important player for the Red Devils ever since.
In 2023, Erik ten Hag made him the team captain, after taking the armband away from Harry Maguire.
Fernandes scored the goal in the 81st minute on Saturday at Old Trafford, helping Manchester United win 2-0 against Tottenham.
The goal helped him become the second fastest player to get 200 goal contributions for the Red Devils in the Premier League era.
The Portuguese midfielder hit this achievement in 314 games, which is 25 games less than Cristiano Ronaldo needed to reach his total of 144 goals and 56 assists.
The former Sporting CP player hit the mark with his 104th goal in the league, and he also has 96 assists to his credit.
Wayne Rooney still holds the record for Manchester United as the former England international made 133 goals and provided 67 assists during his first 295 games.
