Police under Kira Police Division have conducted a joint security operation in Bulindo Katuli Zone and Buwate Ghetto as part of intensified efforts to curb rising crime in the area.
The operation, carried out on Thursday, February 12, 2026, began at 8:00pm and targeted areas reportedly frequented by suspected criminals, particularly those linked to drug-related activities.
According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, a total of 27 suspects were arrested during the operation.
“The suspects were found in possession of suspected narcotic substances and have been charged accordingly,” Owoyesigyire said.
Police recovered exhibits believed to be narcotic drugs, which are being held as investigations continue. The suspects remain in custody as police screen them and process their case files for possible prosecution.
Owoyesigyire described the operation as successful and said similar coordinated security operations will continue in crime-prone areas to ensure public safety.
“Police remain committed to maintaining law and order and ensuring a safe and peaceful environment for all residents,” he said.
Residents have been urged to cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities within their communities.
