Vivo Energy puts Shell service stations up for sale
Vivo Energy Uganda is inviting sealed bids for the purchase of the Shell Clock Tower and Shell South Street service stations. This rare sale offers prime commercial real estate and redevelopment potential in the heart of the Kampala central business district.
KAMPALA, Uganda — Vivo Energy Uganda is divesting two of its prominent Shell-branded service stations in the capital, opening a rare bidding opportunity for prime real estate in the city’s central business district.
The company, which markets Shell fuels and lubricants, announced a sealed-bid sale for the Shell Clock Tower and Shell South Street service stations. Both properties are being sold on an “as is, where is” basis, signaling a potential shift in the local retail fuel landscape or a redevelopment of high-traffic urban corners.
Strategic locations
The Shell Clock Tower station sits on a 0.26-acre leasehold at the intersection of Entebbe Road, a critical artery for commuters entering the city center. The second property, Shell South Street, occupies 0.247 acres of freehold land situated near the Old Taxi Park, one of the busiest pedestrian hubs in the country.
While currently configured for automotive and fuel retail — featuring underground storage tanks, dispensing pumps and service bays — Vivo Energy noted the sites are also positioned for broader commercial redevelopment.
Bidding and requirements
The disposal process requires interested parties to submit formal expressions of interest and adhere to strict financial mandates. Bidders must include a 5 percent commitment fee via a 30-day bank guarantee, and all purchase offers must be stated exclusive of VAT.
The company has set a firm deadline of Monday, March 30, 2026, for all submissions. Bids are to be delivered to Vivo Energy’s offices in the Industrial Area.
Management indicated that it reserves the right to accept or reject any bid, and that site inspections will be conducted strictly by appointment.
