BREAKING! Government Puts On Hold LC1, LC2 Elections
The long awaited LC1 and LC2 national elections have been put on hold by government citing financial constraints.
Government had initially assured the nation that these often postponed elections would finally be held before swearing in of President Museveni in May, 2026.
However, a brief message posted on the X-Handle of the government of Uganda on Thursday, March 19, 2026, says that the Finance State Minister in charge of General Duties, Henry Musasizi, said the Government is unable to facilitate the elections at the moment.
“People who are aspiring for Local Council (LC) 1 and 2 positions may have to wait a bit longer as Government organizes resources for the elections this year,†reads the brief statement.
The date or year that the elections shall take place has not yet been decided by government which says it is still organizing resources for the nationwide exercise.
