Ono Bwino can exclusively report that President Museveni is considering adding defeated Moyo district Woman Member of Parliament and also the state minister in charge of Primary Education Joyce Moriku Kaducu on the long list of his presidential advisors in the coming government.

Highly placed sources in the corridors of power confirmed to Ono Bwino that the President is making his last touches on his cabinet after intelligence and counter-intelligence verified the names of suitable persons to be considered ministers in his new government.

Sources unveiled that apart from the current government chief whip Hamson Obua who was defeated by Fred Jalameso in Ajuri county, other defeated ministers are likely to be dropped.

“Obua’s case is very special and the president understands it very well. He was defeated because of his power struggles with the speaker of parliament Annet Anita Among on who has powers within NRM to influence political decisions in Northern Uganda,” a source said.

He added that joining Museveni’s coming cabinet is going to be highly competitive and fishermen and women like the current Primer Robina Nabanja are likely to be dropped because all political constituencies including religion, cultural institutions are lobbying for their suitable individuals to be considered for juicy ministries.

Opposition politicians who are in good books with the President like the Democratic Party, Forum for Democratic Change are also lobbying for ministerial offices and chances are high that some will be accommodated.

Among those who are strongly lobbying also include Ugandans with Rwandan origin who have a lot of support from the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba and among the ministries they are targeting is the Ministry of Education and Sports.

They want the president to use the wisdom of their own professor Lawrance Muganga who is also the Victoria university vice chancellor when shaping his new cabinet especially in the education sector.

Sources said that Muganga has already been briefed about the ongoing lobbying and he was assured that he will join the Ministry of Education and Sports and his chances are high because the senior education minister who also doubles as the first lady Janet Kataha Museveni has a lot of interest in him and admires his style of struggling to change Africa’s education sector especially given that he is an expert in the new Artificial Intelligence and digital based education system which will soon become a new normal for the education sector worldwide.

Ono Bwino has learnt that celebrated veteran journalist Andrew Mwenda is among the lobbyists who are trying to convince Museveni to deploy the Ugandan-Canadian scholar who is also a digital economy educationist and academic administrator.

Sources said that Mwenda was very instrumental in sourcing and convincing Muganga to return back to Uganda and accept the deal to run city tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia’s university.

This website has learnt that Museveni plans to retain Dr. John Chrysostom Muyingo as a minister of State in charge of higher education.
