National Resistance Movement (NRM) political activists who also double as thechairperson of the children and grandchildren of the 1981 war veterans in the Luwero Triangle Muwada Kanamwangi has warned President Yoweri Museveni and wife Janet Kataha Museveni to be careful when attending endless 2026 presidential elections victory celebrations.
A furious Muwada claims that most of the characters behind organizing those celebrations are political dealers and scammers who use the said celebrations to front themselves for political appointments in the coming government but do not value the party at the bottom of their hearts
He insists that there is connivance between the people organizing those celebrations and officials who uses government’s money to facilitate the activities to use them as a bait well knowing that they will fraudulently reclaim it after being appointed in government offices through corruption and embezzlement of government funds.
“The president needs time to think about the country. Right now people on the ground are expecting him to guide the country on how to survive the effects of the ongoing war in the Middle-East but how is he going to concentrate when he is spending a full day sitting there celebrating every week. The president should know that we know that those celebrations are schemes of getting money from him and government,” Muwada said.
He added that people are angered when they see their leaders celebrating one party after another while they suffer with paying huge taxes through their noses and their businesses collapse because of huge tax burden they are forced to carry yet the money spent on celebrations can be used to rescue their businesses.
“Traders who suffered with floods which were caused by government officials are crying, the president promised them money to recapitalise their businesses but government officials are telling them that there is no money, now, what to they think is they see government officials organising those celebrations. The president should know that those political dealers are taking him in a dangerous path,” he claims.
Ono Bwino has learnt that organizing those celebrations takes not less than Shs10bn and it is the reason why the organizers always fight over them. Before the 2026 general elections, Yiga Kisakyamukama the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Gomba had a bitter exchange with Hellen Seku the Commissioner of the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps over organizing a meeting between Museveni and the operators of garages and mechanics.
This reporter further learnt that there were a lot of fights between Hajjat Aminah Mukalazi Nanziri the Senior Presidential Advisor in charge of Local Content and other NRM party mobilizers who were fighting to frustrate his Yogayoga jjajja celebrations at Kololo independence grounds which the President and his wife attended.
“Owobusobozi Bisaka is the one who can give a moving testimony on how those people fought over those celebration parties. One of the top NRM mobilizers even made a phone call to him a day to Yogayoga jjajja celebrations and he told him that attending the celebrations was going to humiliate him because it was organized by the Catholic church. He advised him strongly not to attend with his thousands of followers,” a source said.
At 3am, on the day of the celebrations, Bisaka received a phone call from one of the top organizers of the celebrations who assured him that the celebrations were not organized by the Catholic church and pleaded with him to come with his followers because the president will be happy seeing them in the audience.
This reporter learnt that the organizers of those celebrations wanted Bisaka because of the big numbers he came with yet he didn’t ask for much money because his goal is always to cement the good relationship, he has with Museveni’s government that has allowed him to practice his faith and belief without interference.
In most cases, there are physical fights as the president is exiting the venue for these celebrations as different groups look for those who promised to give them facilitations for attending the celebrations and transport.
It is the reason why the chief organizers always follow the president’s convoy closely as it exits to avoid violence from angry people.
Moses Byaruhanga one of Museveni’s longest serving Senior Presidential Advisor in charge of politics, while on Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi’s CBS radio defended the celebration parties claiming that they close the gap between the President and his people because he (Museveni) is a president of the common man.
On the issue of people getting annoyed due to the huge spending during these celebrations, he said that government has put in place programmes like Parish Development Model and Emyooga to fight poverty and create jobs for youths and the president is using those celebrations to mobilize the public on how to benefit from them.
Byaruhanga said that the president’s door is open to every Ugandan who wants to invite him to attend such celebrations and other parties because he is their leader.
He added that because the President is good at balancing his time, it is the reason why the government is also moving very well and all institutions are vibrantly working.
