Missing UPDF Sergeant Found Dead in Kabale
Police in Kabale District have launched investigations into the sudden death of a Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) officer whose body was discovered in his house after days of being missing.
The deceased has been identified as Sgt. Tumwesigye Robert, a UPDF officer attached to the 2nd Division and deployed as an intelligence officer at Mukokye Border in Maziba Sub-county.
According to police, the lifeless body of Sgt. Tumwesigye was found lying on his bed in his residence at Mukokye during the morning hours of Monday. The discovery followed a report made by the area chairperson, Christopher Nkaneziyo, to Maziba Police Station.
Kigezi Region Police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed that a team of officers promptly visited and documented the scene. Maate said that the body was later transferred to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
He revealed that preliminary information indicates that the deceased had been missing for the past five days prior to the discovery of his body. He is reported to have been living alone at the time of his death.
