Four More Suspects Arrested Over Murder of Sheema Businessman

Sheema District, Uganda — Police in Sheema District have arrested four additional suspects in connection with the murder and aggravated robbery of a local businessman, Edson Betware, as investigations into the case intensify.

The incident, which occurred on July 28, 2025, in Rutooma Cell, Sheema Municipality, has been under active investigation by security authorities.

According to the Greater Bushenyi Regional Police spokesperson, Apollo Tayebwa, the latest suspects arrested are Nahamya Ovid, also known as Akilamu; Tayebwa Cosma; Amanya Jordan, alias Piza; and Natuhamya Naboth, alias Kayana.

Tayebwa revealed that the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime during police interrogation.

The latest arrests bring the total number of suspects in custody to seven, following the earlier apprehension of three other individuals linked to the same case.

Police say investigations are still ongoing as efforts continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the murder and bring all those responsible to justice.
