Former Obsessions band member Arthur Kanyesigye passes away

Uganda’s entertainment fraternity is mourning the sudden death of Arthur Kanyesigye, a former member of the iconic Obsessions band.

Kanyesigye’s passing was confirmed on Thursday morning, March 26, 2026, by close friends.

According to a close friend and old boy (OB) from Ntare School, Arthur had not been battling any known illness. He reportedly died in his sleep and was discovered unresponsive at around 7:00 a.m.

Arthur Kanyesigye was a member of the original Obsessions band, a group that played a major role in shaping Uganda’s pop and dance music scene. The group rose to fame with hit songs such as Nod Your Head and Dance With Me, becoming a household name during their prime.

He is survived by his 14-year-old daughter.

Burial arrangements indicate that he will be laid to rest today, March 28, in Kabingo Village, Kabwohe, Sheema Municipality.
