Kiboga Shooting: Girlfriend to Receive Shs10 Million Bounty After Tip-Off Leads to Anguyo’s Arrest

The girlfriend of fugitive prison warder Moses Anguyo is expected to receive a Shs10 million reward after providing crucial information that led to his arrest in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Anguyo, who is accused of killing four people, including his superior officers, at Kiboga Government Prison, had been on the run since the February 23 shooting.

Security agencies revealed that suspect was tracked down in Aru Town, Ituri Province, following a tip-off from his girlfriend, who had earlier been arrested alongside two of his brothers during investigations.

According to a police flash report, the arrest was carried out through a coordinated operation involving Uganda Police and Uganda Prisons Service officers from Arua District, particularly Vurra, as well as teams from the Prisons headquarters.

“He has been arrested from Aru Town (Congo) by security. Police in Arua District together with prisons officers have been coordinating this arrest,” West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson SSP Josephine Angucia confirmed.

Authorities said Anguyo is currently being held by officials at Aru Territorial Headquarters in DR Congo, as arrangements are underway to transfer him back to Uganda to face trial in Kiboga District.

The Uganda Prisons Service had earlier announced a Shs10 million bounty for information leading to the suspect’s arrest, following the deadly shooting that shocked the country.

The incident claimed the lives of Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Hope Catherine, Principal Officer I Akishuri Bright, and Ms. Ayebare Sarah, the wife of the Officer in Charge. A young child who was injured in the attack later died in hospital, bringing the death toll to four.

Security agencies have commended the public for cooperating in the investigations, noting that community intelligence played a key role in locating the suspect.
