KCCA Launches This Year's Kampala City Festival

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has officially launched preparations for the 2026 Kampala City Festival, scheduled to take place on October 4, 2026, across major streets in Kampala.

The announcement was made during an appreciation event held at KCCA headquarters, where partners who supported the previous festival were recognized for their contribution.

The 2025 edition of the festival, which was held at Kololo Independence Grounds, attracted massive crowds, including city residents and government officials.

During the event, KCCA Executive Director Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki applauded sponsors for their vital role in ensuring the success of the festival.

“We thank all our partners for standing with us and enabling us to deliver what the people of Kampala expect from this festival,said.

Among the recognized partners was Next Media, which was praised for its extensive media coverage of the festival across its various platforms, including digital channels.

Next Media was awarded a certificate of appreciation presented by Buzeki in recognition of its contribution.

Buzeki revealed that the 2025 festival was organized successfully without any outstanding debts.

“We completed the festival without owing even a single coin. We raised over shs. 700 million in cash, in addition to in-kind contributions worth more than shs 800 million,” she noted.

Following the appreciation ceremony, KCCA officially unveiled the 2026 festival, emphasizing a shift in how it will be organized.

Unlike previous editions, the 2026 Kampala City Festival will be held along different streets within the city to allow wider public participation.

“We have decided to take the festival to the streets so that more Ugandans can enjoy and celebrate their city,” Buzeki explained.

She also noted that preparations have started early to give sponsors enough time to come on board and support the event.

“We have started preparations early to ensure that our partners come on board in time without any pressure,” she added.

KCCA says the new format is aimed at making the festival more inclusive and accessible to all Kampala residents.
