Rwandan National Strangled in Rukiga
Police in Rukiga District are investigating the circumstances under which a 25-year-old Rwandan national was found strangled in Muhanga Town Council. The deceased, only identified as Fakasi, is believed to have been killed between midnight and the early morning hours of March 29–30, 2026. His lifeless body was discovered on Sunday in Kitaburaza Cell, Muhanga Town Council.
Fakazi is said to have been living in the area with fellow villagers from Manyagiro Village in Gicumbi District, where they were working as casual labourers. Reports indicate that two months ago, he had travelled to Kampala in search of work before returning.
The body was discovered on Sunday morning when one of his colleagues stepped outside and found him lying dead in front of the house. The colleague alerted others working at the late Apollo Nyegamehe, also known as Aponye’s garden, who then informed the area chairperson, Bernard Kagurusi. Police were later notified.
According to Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, officers visited and documented the scene. Maate says, “The body had visible signs of strangulation,” adding that the deceased was found lying outside the house. He further noted that “the body was conveyed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination as investigations into the matter continue.”
Police say inquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the killing.
