BUGWERI
Following the rising public concern over increased robberies, phone snatching and other criminal activities in Bugweri, an intelligence led operation was conducted in areas of Idudi A, B and Idudi C on Sunday 5th April, 2026 to arrest suspects of the notorious criminal gangs dubbed Fangone forest and Gaza gangs.
The operation was conducted from midnight to 05:30am and it resulted into the arrest of 18 suspects.
Busoga East Regional Police spokesperson, ASP Kasadha Michael reveals that during the operation one suspect identified as Mulondo Jamada grabbed a panga and attempted to confront the OC Bugweri Identified as ASP Nagolo Robert, but he was subdued.
However, during the scuffle, the suspect bit off part of the OCs left ear, and he has been charged with attempted murder to that effect.
Two suspects identified as Kaziba Salim and Muwaya Twahili were found sleeping with female juveniles of 17 years and 13 years respectively and they have been charged with defilement. The two female juveniles by names were rescued and examined.
Exhibits of Uganda flag, Fangone forest flag, 7 suspected stolen smart phones, 1 32- inch- TV set and others were found and further investigations are ongoing.
