The Anti-Corruption Unit, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), has made a significant arrest in a case that has stunned the public. Kizito Ronald, a man charged with demanding money with menaces, was brought before the Nakawa Chief Magistrate’s Court after a shocking series of events that began in February 2026.

Kizito, a suspect at Kira Police Station, falsely reported that he had been hired by Mr. Mugimba Robert to murder his wife, Mrs. Mugimba. This fabricated story immediately triggered a full police investigation into the alleged plot. However, in a surprising twist, Kizito later admitted that he had lied about the entire situation. Rather than merely retracting his false report, he took things a step further by demanding UGX 4 million from Mr. Mugimba, threatening to keep the fabricated story alive unless he was paid to withdraw it.

The extortion attempt came to an abrupt end when Kizito was arrested while receiving the money. The Anti-Corruption Unit’s swift action ensured that justice would be pursued, sending a strong message about the misuse of power within the law enforcement system. Kizito has since been remanded in custody, and he will return to court on 30th April 2026 for further proceedings.

This case underscores the importance of holding public servants accountable and highlights how the Anti-Corruption Unit’s efforts are crucial in maintaining integrity within Uganda’s law enforcement agencies.
