Entebbe Airport Immigration Relocates to New Terminal
ENTEBBE – The Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control (DCIC) has begun relocating its immigration departures operations and critical systems to the new terminal extension at Entebbe International Airport, a move aimed at modernizing infrastructure and improving service delivery for travelers.
In a public notice issued on Friday, April 17, 2026, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the transition, describing it as “a key step in modernizing our infrastructure to provide faster and better services to all passengers.”
To facilitate the safe movement of staff, equipment, and digital systems, operations at the old immigration departures area have been temporarily scaled down. Passengers may experience longer queues, especially during peak hours.
The ministry, however, assured travelers that the transition will not cause missed flights. “We wish to assure all travelers that no passenger will miss their flight due to this transition. Every traveler will be cleared in time for boarding, unless additional security, legal, or documentation checks are required,” the notice stated.
Officials emphasized that immigration officers remain committed to professionalism. “Our officers are however committed to serving you with the utmost professionalism, courtesy, and speed, while ensuring all required security and immigration checks are thoroughly completed,” it added.
To avoid inconvenience, the ministry strongly recommended that passengers arrive at the airport at least three (3) hours before their scheduled departure time, or as advised by the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA).
The relocation forms part of broader upgrades at Entebbe International Airport, including a new 20,000-square-meter passenger terminal expected to significantly boost the facility’s capacity.
Travelers have been urged to plan accordingly and check with their airlines for any additional guidance during this period.
