SOROTI CITY: Police Arrests Mother, Wife of Mobile Money Operator Shooter for Hiding Evidence

Police has arrested mother and wife to the man suspected of pulling the trigger that ended the life of a Moblie Money operator, Patricia Kokunda on 3rd April, 2026.

According to Police Spokesperson, ACP Kituuma Rusooke, the duo was arrested today, Friday, April 24, 2026 at about 5:00AM from their hide out.

Kituuma identifies the suspects as Apolot Agnes, aged 41, resident of Akaikai Ogobai Village, Arabaka Parish, Arapai Sub County, Soroti District and wife of Opali Justine.

The second suspect is Akello Salume, mother-in-law to Apolot Agnes and mother to the prime suspect, Emenyu David alias Olipong, resident of the same village.

Following the earlier arrest of Emenyu David alias Olipong, the two retrieved the killer weapon from their house and buried it in a nearby garden in an attempt to conceal evidence and later fled their home only to be arrested today.

ED-This rifle was recovered by the police at the beginning of the investigations.

Upon arrest, they cooperated with Police and led officers to the recovery of 18 rounds of ammunition, which had been hidden in an empty engine oil container inside a grass-thatched kitchen structure.

They admitted to receiving and jointly keeping custody of the firearm that had been handed to them by the prime suspect.

Preliminary findings also indicate a criminal history within the family, with the father of the prime suspect, Opolon Vicent, and his sons Opali Justine and Opolon Isaac currently on remand at Kitalya Government Prison on charges of aggravated robbery.

The newly arrested suspects are currently detained at CPS Soroti as investigations continue.
