The Makerere University Students’ Guild has issued a formal missing student announcement for Arinda Freedom, a first-year student at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHUSS), after his whereabouts became unknown more than a week ago.

In a letter dated Wednesday, April 29, 2026 and signed by Owen Nasasira, the 92nd Minister for Students’ Affairs, the Guild confirmed that Arinda — who studies Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences (BASS) under registration number 25/U/10900/EXT — was last seen by his roommates at Nsibirwa Hall on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.

“It’s with profound sadness that I announce the missing student in the name of Arinda Freedom,” the letter reads. “His whereabouts have not been clear according to his roommates in Nsibirwa Hall since last week on Tuesday, 21st of April 2026.”

The announcement has been copied to the Dean of Students and the Guild President, indicating that the matter is being treated with institutional seriousness at multiple levels of university administration.
