Police Probe Brutal Night Attack on Entebbe Officer Found Bleeding Outside Barracks

Police is investigating a shocking attempted murder incident in which a police officer attached to the CT Oil and Gas Department at CPS Entebbe was brutally attacked and left bleeding with multiple stab wounds near the Entebbe Police Barracks.

The victim has been identified as No. 77007 PC Ndyomugenyi Gedion, a 27-year-old police constable. According to police reports, the incident happened in the early hours of Friday, May 2, 2026. At around 1:05 a.m., ASP Obukulem Edison, the senior standby officer at CPS Entebbe, together with a team of officers, rushed to the barracks after receiving information about an alleged attempted murder.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found PC Ndyomugenyi lying in a pool of blood. He had sustained four deep stab wounds on the forehead, the left and back sides of the neck, and the lower back. Despite the serious injuries, he was still alive. Police quickly rushed him to Entebbe Grade B Hospital where he was admitted for treatment.

Preliminary investigations show that earlier in the evening on May 1, at about 6:00 p.m., the victim had gone to Mapema Bar in Lunyo Zone, Entebbe, together with his colleague, No. 74013 PC Mfitumukiza Innocent. The two officers reportedly spent time drinking alcohol at the bar.

Police say that at around 9:00 p.m., PC Mfitumukiza left the bar and returned to the Entebbe Police Barracks to sleep, leaving behind PC Ndyomugenyi who continued drinking at the bar.

Hours later, at around midnight, PC Mfitumukiza allegedly heard someone shouting outside his house at the barracks. When he opened the door, he reportedly found PC Ndyomugenyi lying outside badly injured and unconscious. The attackers had already fled from the scene and had not yet been identified.

PC Mfitumukiza immediately rushed to CPS Entebbe and reported the matter, prompting police officers to respond quickly to the scene.

Police later registered a case of attempted murder by unknown assailants under Entebbe SD Reference 05/02/05/2026. Investigators say the motive behind the attack has not yet been established.

Authorities have since launched fresh investigations to identify and arrest the people behind the violent attack. More details are expected to be released as investigations continue.
