Government Gives Car Dealers Two Weeks to Vacate Nakawa–Banda–Kireka Road Reserve
The Ministry of Works and Transport has issued a two-week deadline to car bond operators and vehicle dealers operating along the Nakawa–Banda–Kireka corridor to vacate the road reserve.
The directive was announced during a meeting held this morning involving officials from the Ministry, Uganda Police, UPDF, KCCA, URA, and affected car dealers. The engagement was aimed at preparing stakeholders for the planned enforcement exercise to clear encroachments on the designated road reserve.
Car dealers have been instructed to remove all structures, vehicles, and any developments within the road reserve. Authorities say the move is intended to protect road infrastructure, improve safety along the corridor, and support orderly urban development.
The dealers acknowledged the directive and committed to complying within the given timeframe. They also agreed to work closely with relevant authorities to ensure an orderly relocation process.
A joint field visit is currently underway to demarcate the road reserve boundaries and provide clarity to all affected parties.
The Ministry has urged full cooperation from stakeholders, emphasizing the importance of preserving road reserves for efficient transport systems and sustainable urban growth.
