It’s Unfair, We Mobilised & Sacrificed Everything for NRM Victory but Only Big People Were Considered”: Depressed Kampala Cadres Cry Out to Hajjat Namyalo Over Museveni Swearing-In Snub

Kampala: A section of National Resistance Movement (NRM) mobilisers and supporters from the five divisions of Kampala have petitioned the Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, protesting what they described as discrimination and exclusion from preparations for President-elect Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s upcoming swearing-in ceremony.

The mobilisers from Kampala Central, Kawempe, Makindye, Nakawa and Rubaga divisions, led by the ONC Coordinator for Kampala Region, Maureen Tumusiime, stormed Hajjat Namyalo’s office demanding immediate intervention after allegedly being left out of mobilisation activities and invitation arrangements for the national event slated for Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at Kololo Independence Grounds.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Tumusiime said Kampala mobilisers played a major role in securing President Museveni’s victory and deserved to be fully involved in the preparations for the inauguration ceremony.

“We sacrificed our time, resources and energy to mobilise support for President Museveni across Kampala and contributed greatly to the 71 percent victory. It is therefore unfair for Kampala mobilisers to be sidelined at such an important moment, yet we would be at the forefront of this ceremony through mobilising our voters to witeness their beloved President as he takes oath but we have been leftout” Tumusiime said.

She added that many grassroots supporters were frustrated after learning that mobilisation structures in other regions had already been facilitated while Kampala teams remained uncertain about their role.

“We came to seek Hajjat Namyalo’s intervention because she has always stood with grassroots mobilisers. We want to be officially deployed to mobilise people for the swearing-in ceremony and also receive facilitation to help transport and organise supporters who want to attend,” she added.

One of the mobilisers from Kawempe Division, Mirembe Zainabu Namakula, said many NRM supporters in Kampala were eager to attend the ceremony but lacked coordination and support.

“As Kampala mobilisers, we cannot sit back when such a historic event is happening. We worked day and night during campaigns,elections and even collected declaration forms after elections. We are only asking to be recognised and empowered to continue mobilising our people for the President,” Mirembe said.

In response, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo assured them that their concerns would be handled and commended them for remaining committed to the ruling party and President Museveni.

“You are the backbone of the NRM victory in Kampala and your contribution cannot be ignored. I appreciate your commitment and sacrifice during the campaigns and elections and still i urgue you not to give up with or without the resources.” Hajjat Namyalo said.

She further pledged to engage relevant authorities to ensure Kampala mobilisers are included in the swearing-in mobilisation structures.

“I will follow up this matter and ensure that Kampala mobilisers are not left behind.Whatever resources i get,we shall share and make the swearing-in ceremony is a massive success. The swearing-in ceremony is a victory celebration for all NRM supporters and every committed cadre deserves to participate,” she added.

The swearing-in ceremony of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the Kololo Independence Grounds, where thousands of Ugandans, political leaders, diplomats and foreign dignitaries are expected to gather for the historic occasion.
