Police in Mubende District have arrested two suspects and launched a manhunt for others after a 19-year-old man was allegedly killed during a violent bar fight involving broken beer bottles.

Police in Mubende District have launched investigations into a fatal bar brawl that claimed the life of a 19-year-old man in the early hours of May 15, 2026, as authorities intensify efforts to track down other suspects still on the run.

The deceased has been identified as Davis Namara, a resident of Bulaaza Village, Nkandwa Parish in Kayebe Sub-county, Mubende District.

According to preliminary police findings, the incident occurred at a bar owned by Prossy Namata in Bulaaza Village, where the deceased had reportedly spent the night socializing with friends.

Police said Namara was in the company of Deogracious Twinomukama alias Kanini, Akankwasa Deus, and another man only identified as Nkamuhabwe when a misunderstanding broke out among them and later escalated into a violent fight.

Wamala Regional Police spokesperson Lameck Kigozi said investigations indicate that during the altercation, Nkamuhabwe allegedly struck Namara on the head with an Eagle Lager bottle, leaving him critically injured.

“The group attempted to rescue the victim by rushing him to a nearby drug shop operated by Musawo Scovia Nakakawa for first aid, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival,” Kigozi said.

Police further revealed that after realizing the victim had died, the suspects allegedly abandoned the body on the verandah of the drug shop before fleeing the scene.

A homicide team from Mubende Central Police Station later visited and documented the crime scene before transferring the body to Mubende Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination.

Authorities have since arrested Kanini, aged 60, and Akankwasa, aged 37, both residents of Bulaaza Village in Kayebe Sub-county.

The suspects are currently being held at CPS Mubende to assist with investigations.

Police said efforts are ongoing to apprehend Nkamuhabwe and any other individuals believed to have participated in the incident.

“We have already arrested two suspects while other individuals connected to the incident are still being pursued. Investigations into the matter are continuing,” Kigozi added.

The incident has shocked residents of Bulaaza Village, with local leaders and community members calling for restraint and peaceful resolution of disputes, particularly in entertainment places where alcohol consumption is involved.

Police have urged members of the public to avoid violent confrontations and instead seek lawful means of resolving misunderstandings to prevent further loss of life.
