Kira Division Police are investigating a suspected case of human trafficking and promotion of pornography following an operation that led to the rescue of 27 young women in Kyaliwajjala, Wakiso District. According to Kampala Metropolitan Police, the suspects were found on May 18, 2026, at around 8:00 pm in Mbalwa Buyinja Zone, Kyaliwajjala, Namugongo Division, after officers acted on intelligence reports indicating that a group of young women was being confined in a residential house.

Upon entering the premises, police discovered 27 females aged between 17 and 26 years staying in three rooms, alongside a male suspect believed to be connected to the activities under investigation. Police also recovered several items allegedly used in the suspected illegal operations, including laptops, cameras, and 10 adult devices.

Authorities say preliminary findings suggest the victims were engaged in commercial online adult content activities, prompting investigations into possible human trafficking and exploitation networks. All the 27 females and the male suspect are currently in police custody, where they are recording statements as investigations continue.

Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend other suspected recruiters and organisers linked to the case. Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala confirmed the operation, noting that investigations are ongoing.
