Former Ministers run to Witch Doctors for help to Retain their Positions
As President Yoweri Museveni prepares to announce a new cabinet for the 12th Parliament, reports have emerged alleging that several former ministers are turning to traditional witch doctors in a desperate bid to retain their positions in government.
According to sources familiar with the matter, a number of ministers who fear being dropped from the next cabinet have allegedly abandoned prayers and formal lobbying, choosing instead to seek spiritual intervention from renowned shrines across the country.
On Wednesday, three ministers, whose identities have been withheld pending further verification, were reportedly seen kneeling and partially dressed during rituals conducted at separate shrines believed to possess strong spiritual powers connected to political influence and protection.
Sources claim the ministers’ main objective was to seek blessings and rituals aimed at influencing the appointing authority, hoping to remain trusted members of the next government.
Two of the ministers were allegedly spotted entering a popular shrine located near Kagulu Hill in Buyende District, while others were reportedly seen visiting a well-known traditional healer in Karenga.
The developments come at a time of growing anxiety within political circles as many senior government officials await President Museveni’s decisions on who will survive the expected cabinet reshuffle.
However, some political observers argue that appointments to cabinet remain entirely in the hands of the President and caution leaders against relying on superstition and fear.
More details, including the identities of the alleged ministers and further information surrounding the reported shrine visits, are expected to emerge in the coming days
