Silver Mugisha Wealth: NWSC Boss and Wife MP Annet Katusiime Declare their ‘Modest Properties’ to IGG
Questions about Mugisha’s assets recently emerged following discussions surrounding his 12-year tenure as team leader of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), with critics and sections of the public demanding explanations about the source of his wealth and lifestyle.
However, Mugisha has dismissed allegations suggesting that he had accumulated unexplained riches while serving in public office.
The NWSC boss insisted that both he and his wife, Annet Katusiime Mugisha, only possess what he described as “modest properties.”
In his response, Dr. Mugisha maintained that there was nothing suspicious about his assets, emphasizing that all his wealth declarations have been submitted to the Inspectorate of Government in line with legal and institutional requirements governing public officials.
He further clarified that the declarations were made transparently and consistently, noting that the Inspectorate of Government already has records of all properties owned by the couple.
“In 32 years of working at NWSC, largely in senior positions, I and my wife (Hon KAM [Katusiime Annet Mugisha]) own modest properties that have been duly declared to IGG,” noted Mugisha.
He also told his critics that he is not the first NWSC boss to own properties.
“You may also wish to note that my predecessors also own certain properties,” he noted.
According to Mugisha, the claims being circulated about his wealth are exaggerated and intended to damage his reputation, and are aimed at his wife Annet Katusiime’s recent victory in the Bushenyi District Woman MP race.
“We have learned that the main motivation behind those trying to drag the NWSC MD in all this, is political maneuvering in Bushenyi,” claimed Mugisha.
The debate over Mugisha’s wealth comes at a time when scrutiny of top public officials and heads of government agencies has intensified, especially regarding accountability, asset declarations, and alleged misuse of public office for personal enrichment.
Despite the criticism, Mugisha has continued to defend his leadership record at NWSC, arguing that the corporation has registered significant growth and operational improvements during his time in charge.

It should be remembered that the IGG recently threatened to make thousands of government employees lose their jobs for failing to declare their wealth.
