Arsenal transfers: The four major signings club want to make after Champions League loss

Arsenal are expected to prioritise strengthening their attack as part of a plan to refresh the squad that came so close to Champions League glory.

Arsenal were beaten on penalties by the reigning European champions, Paris Saint-Germain, on Saturday evening after the game finished 1-1 following extra-time. Eberechi Eze and Gabriel both missed in the shootout, meaning Arsenal came up short 20 years on from their only previous Champions League final outing, which they lost to Barcelona.

While it may have ended on a sour note in Budapest, it's still been a stellar season for Arsenal, who clinched their first Premier League title in 22 years earlier this month.

And it emerged in the aftermath of Saturday's defeat to PSG that there are ambitious plans in the transfer market to ensure the club kick on under Mikel Arteta next year.

The Athletic's David Ornstein told TNT Sports: “The number nine position is interesting. A penny for the thoughts of Victor Gyokeres tonight, his first season, and he helped them to this final and then was put on the bench.

“Then the left-sided attack is a big priority for them, and they’ve been looking at it for a few years, and I think they may be the summer where they really go for something. They’ve got the options there.”

He continued: “They want a six/eight midfielder. They want to strengthen at right-back as well. So when you tally up what they’ve got to do, you could see that outlay in the market from last summer repeated or even exceeded.”

Mirror Football understands that Arsenal are among a clutch of elite clubs hoping to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa this summer, with the 23-year-old capable of playing as a left-sided attacker and a No 10.

There has been speculation over both Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard amid talk that Arsenal are keen on acquiring a new left winger for the 2026-27 campaign.

The Gunners spent big last summer on deals for Gyokeres and Eze to bolster their attack, though both players started the Champions League final on the bench, with Kai Havertz scoring Arsenal's only goal after being picked to lead the line ahead of the former.
