NWSC announces nine-hour Kampala water shutdown for Saturday maintenance
Kampala residents face a water outage as NWSC conducts essential maintenance at the Ggaba Water Treatment Plant and key reservoirs. Prepare for interruptions.
KAMPALA, Uganda — A massive water outage is set to hit the capital city tomorrow, forcing businesses and residents across major urban hubs to ration their supply.
The National Water and Sewerage Corporation announced it will completely shut down the Gunhill water production line on Saturday, June 13, 2026. The nine-hour disruption, running from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., is required to conduct mandatory quarterly maintenance on the Gunhill reservoirs.
The planned maintenance comes at a high-stakes time for the utility provider, as key metropolitan areas brace for dry taps. Management has issued an urgent advisory instructing all customers in the affected zones to store sufficient water immediately and use their remaining supply with strict economy.
The shutdown will paralyze supply lines across the Central Business District, industrial zones and dense residential neighborhoods. Heavily impacted areas include Ggaba Road, Munyonyo, Buziga, Kibuli, Nakasero, Mulago and the Industrial Area.
The corporation released a comprehensive breakdown of specific locations facing the cutoff:
