KAMPALA: NEMA Raids 9 Bars over Noise Pollution, Confiscates Sound Systems
National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has carried out an operation in conjunction with KCCA on noise pollution, confiscating sound equipment from 9 facilities.
The operation effected today, Friday, June 12, 2026 covered areas of Nakawa, Kawempe, Makindye, Rubaga and Central divisions seizing sound equipment and other accessories belonging to facilities that have persistently emitted noise beyond permissible levels.
Sound equipment confiscated
Nine (9) facilities including Climax Entertainment Hub and Paradigm Bar Lounge have been affected and 153 pieces of soundequipment impounded.
The operation also issued warning notices and sealing off facilities operating under wrong licenses.
Emission of noise above permissible levels is an offence punishable under the National Environment Act Cap. 181 and enforced under the National Environment (Noise Standards and Control) Regulations, 2003.
