Sick Woman Dies at Pastor’s House After 7 Days of Healing Prayers

A 29 year old woman in Palisa  died after her family decided to seek prayer instead of medical treatment.
According to Bukedea North region police spokesperson SP Samuel Semewo, the woman had been seriously ill and had been receiving treatment at a local clinic for some time.
After a health worker discovered that she was anemic and needed a blood transfusion, she was referred to Pallisa General Hospital.
However, her family and friends chose to take her to the home of Okupa, who claims to be a pastor at Apetete (Akisim) Church, for prayer instead.
Her condition worsened over the next week, and she was pronounced dead at Okupa’s home after seven days. The situation was reported to Kameke police post, and an investigation began.
Police have opened a case under reference number PAL DEF 017/2024 and have recovered some evidence from the pastor’s house. Okupa is currently on the run. The deceased’s body has been taken to Pallisa General Hospital for a postmortem examination while the investigation continues.
